Chemical Peel

Chemical peels are available as light, medium or deep peels. They work to resurface the skin in order to restore the health, condition and effective functioning of the skin. Depending on the recommended type of peel, the treatment can take up to 90 minutes, with results developing over a period of approx. 2 weeks. With minimal downtime, the outcome can produce a youthful, radiant appearance that can last for around 2 - 3 months.

The experts advice

A chemical peel can improve the appearance of wrinkles, uneven tone, acne, dry skin, Rosacea and sun damage. Your concerns will determine the right peel for you, involving the application of an acid-based solution to the skin, which is left to develop. After the peeling stage (around 1 week), a healthy new layer of skin is revealed.

Common Questions

I.Who is a suitable candidate?

A chemical peel is a treatment to resurface the skin in order to produce a youthful and radiant appearance.Your skin will need to be in fairly good condition to be deemed suitable for this procedure, that doesn’t present with any existing conditions or active infections.

II.What areas can be treated?

At The Toni Clinic we use chemical peels to help restore the look of the face, neck and hands. These areas are the places where the signs of ageing can be most noticeable, so to remove the top layers of the skin and reveal a new surface layer, it can encourage youthful radiance.

III.What, if any, are the side effects?

The skin may appear reddened immediately after the procedure, which will settle within a few hours. As a skin resurfacing procedure, the top layers of the skin will need to shed. This process usually starts 5 - 7 days after the treatment and can last for up to 10 days. The flakes of skin are usually very small and do not often cause any embarrassment. You’ll also need to make sure you protect your new skin from the sun, as it can be more sensitive.

IV.How much does a chemical peel cost?
